The PCC of All Saints’ Church is delighted that we have been award ed a major grant of £19,288 from the Essex Environment Trust towards the renovation of Priest House. This is courtesy of the Essex Landfill operators who contribute funds to the Trust.

After a fabric committee meeting last week and an emergency PCC meeting yesterday we are now able to proceed, and have now formally given instructions to our project manager Terry Lockhart to appoint Bakers of Danbury to do the work. We don’t yet know when this will be but we hope for early in the New Year.

This money will be added to the generous grants from the Friends of All Saints, The Dagwood Trust, & The Garfield Weston Foundation as well as donations given during the Priest House gift weekend in September, and will go towards the first stage of restoration - the major work of replacing the soleplate and restoring the basic fabric of the building. After this we will proceed with Stage Two as soon as we can, which includes further exterior and interior work such as walls, guttering, windows and doors. The final third stage will be replacement of the kitchen and toilet facilities.

At present Priest House continues to be open for community use as usual, contact details are in the Link magazine. All users will be informed of likely closure dates as soon as we know them. We do not expect this to be for more than 3 or 4 weeks.

Thank you
